AMELIA ELLISDocumentary Director, Producer, Writer, Host
Amelia Ellis is a documentary director, producer, podcast producer and writer whose work spans television, film, audio and editorial. She has worked with the BBC, Netflix, Vice, Channel 4, the Guardian, Paramount+, the BFI and many more. Alongside her documentary work, she develops creative campaigns, live events and editorial projects as a producer, host and presenter.

Amelia is drawn to stories that immerse audiences in unfamiliar worlds and challenge conventional perspectives. Her work is driven by a passion for emotionally engaging, innovative storytelling that amplifies underrepresented voices and makes complex subjects accessible to wide audiences. This approach led her to originate a BBC series format that went on to become an award-winning four-part documentary series.

Her experience ranges from producing high-profile on-screen talent to overseeing complex and high-risk shoots, such as filming with gang leaders in Chicago on the streets and inside jail and with cults in Colombia. Whatever the subject, Amelia's focus remains the same: building trust with contributors and uncovering the human stories at the heart of every story.

Beyond documentary, Amelia has produced and hosted the podcast Close-Up, moderated and presented industry panels, and created content for brands and organisations including Nike, ASOS, Sevenstore and Manchester International Festival. Her work has also been recognised by Women in Journalism.
